Busy June - September for Shutter and Brush Fine Art. Now Travel is in the Air.

The Santa Fe Studio Tour the last weekend in June was a big success. We had lots of visitors, repeat and new and all seven artists at our studio sold well, mingled well and had a generally great time.

Now we're busy getting ready for a road trip to Minneapolis and Kentucky. We'll be leaving at the end of August, mixing family and friend events with creating new art. A road trip is always an exciting way to stir up creativity. We've had a steady stream of company in July and part of August, so we're glad to be taking a break and recharging.

Dave will be working on a project for a Herrera Tequila art contest. He's one of 80 artists who are creating art from wooden barrels. They'll be displayed in Miami Florida in the late fall. I'll post new information as I know more.

Here is a painting of the Loretto Chapel that I recently finished. It was a commission that I recently shipped out. It's watercolor with pen and ink and pastel highlights.

New year of Art Shows, Creativity and the June 2013 Santa Fe Studio Tour

The year is already 1/4 over. YIKES! I think it's true that the older you get the faster time goes by. We're busy creating work and planning the Santa Fe Studio Tour 2013 (June 28 - 30.) We both have workshops coming up, an activity that always inspires our own creativity as much as we hope we inspire our students.

I've just completed a commissioned piece for Marilyn Glasson-Fenker of Santa Facials. It's an acrylic and collage painting 61" x 54."

Hollyhock Fantasy • Acrylic and Collage

I also donated two pieces to a fundraiser for the Santa Fe Community Galley. Both sold before I got to the opening party 40 minutes after it started. Almost all of the artwork donated sold within the first hour of the opening.

Both Dave and I have pieces in a show at the Johnson Gallery of Madrid NM.
Dave is busily preparing for his workshop in Tuscany in May. He'll be teaching his students how to think creatively as they plan their photographs. Of course the information is relevant for artists as well. The workshop is from May 5 - 19th. You can check out the details at

We keep busy and do our best to present our work to the public, but most of all we have a great time living our dream.

Dave Robinson to Teach a Photography Workshop in May in Tuscany

Our spring is going to be a busy one. In addition to getting ready for the 2013 Santa Fe Studio Tour June 28 - 30, we'll also be making a trip to Tuscany where Dave will be teaching a workshop at La Casacce in Tuscany Italy May 5 - 19, 2013. Please go to for details on the workshop "Fine Art Through a Lens" and instructions on how to apply to be part of the workshop.

This will be an exciting two week adventure. You'll be learning a lot about the "art" of photography and how to make your image even more than what you see. There will be visits to several ancient towns in the area, the accommodations are wonderful and Enrico, the owner/chef creates meals you won't forget.

Artist in Residence at the Inn at Loretto

Dave and I have been participating in the Inn at Loretto Artist in Residence Program. We set up our work stations and create our art for 4- 5 hours at a time. It's a great opportunity to connect with visitors to Santa Fe and locals who wander through the lobby. We answer questions about our work and show samples of finished pieces. It's been a very rewarding opportunity. If you're downtown when we're at the hotel, please stop by and say hi.

We're also preparing for the June Santa Fe Studio Tour. Save the last weekend in June so you don't miss the upcoming event. There will be an opening party on Friday June 29th with the actual tour taking place on Saturday, June 30th and Sunday, July 1st. Watch for our ads in the PASA and the Reporter as well as other local publications.
